Last month was an extremely busy month! I started the stretch at fellow LPGA player Cristie Kerr’s charity event. It was truly a first class event for an incredible cause. Cristie’s mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003. Shortly after, Cristie decided to start her ‘Birdies for Breast Cancer’ website to help raise money and awareness. The ‘Birdies for Breast Cancer Charity Golf Classic’ was an incredible event to be a part of. All of the participating players and guests took a boat from Manhattan, past the Statue of Liberty, to Liberty National Golf Club. The day of golf was filled with lots of laughs and the golf course allowed everyone to enjoy the NYC skyline as a back drop. The event concluded with a formal gala and poker event. What a day! Be sure to check out her website to get involved or to see photos from the event (www.birdiesforbreastcancer.com).
From NYC, I went straight to Chicago for the Solheim Cup. Solheim Cup tournaments are the pinnacle of women’s professional golf. My best professional moments and favorite memories have taken place during the Cup. This year we had a challenge. The event is a threeday match play, team style event, USA vs. Europe. Every four years the event is held in the States. This was my third Solheim Cup and we have won each time. If you missed the event on TV, it was fantastic golf and great competition. If you saw it, you know how exciting the event was. If you were one of the 140K plus fans out there waving American flags and cheering for us, thank you!
We were tied going into Sunday. I was the anchor pairing for the matches, and was honored and excited to be in that spot. We have never beat Europe on US soil, and this year we kept the streak going! We are all still so excited!!
From Chicago, I traveled to Portland, OR and then to Calgary for the Canadian Women’s Open. I played well in Portland, but struggled on the weekend in Canada. From the west coast of Canada, I traveled straight to Arkansas for the P&G Beauty NW Arkansas event. I finished 14th and now have a week off.
It’s been along stretch of golf events. I am off to New York City again and will be attending Fashion Week. It is one of my favorite events to attend! I will also be going to my first movie premiere. Make sure to check back, as I will be writing a journal and posting some pictures at the end of the week.
On Thursday, I will return home to Vegas to see my coach Butch Harmon. We will have a few days to tune up my game before the next stretch.
I hope everyone is doing well, and want to thank everyone for checking out my site!
