Day three at the McDonald’s LPGA Championship turned out to Natalie Gulbis’ best day so far as Natalie carded a three under par 69.

Natalie birdied holes 3 and 4 while posting par on the rest of the front side for a stellar 2 under 34. A birdie on number 10 was quickly negated by a bogey on 11 and then another bogey on number 13. Natalie Gulbis then birdied 15 and 16 to get going in the right direction again for a one under par 35 on the back side. Together, the front and back of day three made up the 3 under par round of 69.

Natalie is currently even par for the tournament after three days.

As steady as day one was for Natalie Gulbis at the 2009 McDonalds LPGA Championship, day two was another story. Wobbling most of the day, Natalie Gulbis was only able to post a 3 over par 75 for the day.

Out of the gate it was destined to be a rough day as Natalie bogeyed both holes number one and two. Then showing her guts she came back and birdied numbers three and number six to pull even for the day. Bogeys on 8, 11, and 12 sent her to three over par. A birdie on number 16 seemed to save the day as it brought Natalie to 2 under par for the tournament with the projected cut line at three over par. That good feeling went away with a bogey on number 18 however to leave Natalie Gulbis at 3 over par and seriously in danger of missing the cut in this LPGA Major. Natalie could only wait and see what the rest of the field would do before finding out her fate for the weekend.

A couple hours later all was good as the entire field backed up pushing the cut to 4 over and allowing Natalie Gulbis to play on Saturday and Sunday. Natalie certainly dodged a bullet and currently is in a tie for 65th place at 3 over par… but still playing on Saturday.

Steady as she goes was the phrase of the day for Natalie Gulbis on opening of the 2009 McDonalds LPGA Championship. Natalie turned in a steady even par round of 72 to open the 4 day LPGA Major event.

Starting on the back side Natalie Gulbis made bogey on number 11 and then cruised with all pars to finish the back side in one over 37. After making the turn and carding 4 pars, Natalie birdied number 5 to get back to even par for the round. Four more pars and the front side ended in one under par 35. Again, a steady day of nines, 37 and 35, for an even par opening round.

Natalie Gulbis is in a bunch of golfers at even par, including Lorena Ochoa, tied for 34th place after round one. Natalie tees off at 8:54am Eastern in round two.

Saturday was moving day for Natalie Gulbis at the 2009 State Farm Classic. Natalie had another great sub par round by turning in a 3 under 69 for the day.

Natalie continued her recent surge in better golf by going out on day 3 in 3 under 33. Three birdies and not a single bogey on the front side. The back side started in simliar fashion as Natalie birdied number 13 and was only 4 back of the leaders. Unfortunately the lone hiccup for the day, a bogey on 18, set Natalie back to even par for the back side and 3 under for the 3rd round.

All in all, Natalie Gulbis sits in decent shape only 5 behind leader Cristie Kerr.

Natalie tees off at 11:34am eastern time Sunday morning.
